Residents meet Congressman Mack at Capt. Brien’s

A group of residents gathered Tuesday evening to meet U.S. Congressman Connie Mack (R-Fort Myers) at seafood restaurant Capt. Brien’s in the Marcowalk Plaza. Many of those in attendance are longtime supporters of Mack.

Karen Urbanik, who serves on the Collier County Republican Party executive committee and is a Marco resident, has known Mack for several years.

“I know he’s trying to do energy policies and get our government back on track,” Urbanik said. “He is a good, fair leader.”

Marco resident Dick Shanahan said he’s in full support of Mack’s conservative record, what the congressman has done and what he continues to do.

Resident Philip Josberger said he plans to vote for Mack and that he “supports his efforts” in Washington.

Spotted at Tuesday evening’s outing were City Councilmen Rob Popoff and Jerry Gibson, Marco Island City Manager Steve Thompson, Marco Island Community Development Directory Steve Olmsted, Marco Island Fire Rescue Chief Mike Murphy, Public Works/Utilities Director Rony Joel and Vince Magee, who serves on the city’s Planning Board.

Burt Saunders, who has served in the Florida Legislature as both a state representative and senator, has announced plans to run against Mack this November as an independent.
